There is a thread at HVM about this, I thought we'd discuss it here.
Now that I work at a local electronics shop I have a bit more experience and was wondering what people were planning on integrating into their helms. I've had some ideas cooking for years myself.
I've always wanted to have cameras around the rim, not sure how many would be feasible (I can't see any more than two having room for an LCD) with a display inside the cheek. If a low lux camera could be obtained (and any IR filters removed) I would put IR LEDs in the tip of the rangefinder. This would allow somewhat of a night vision, without giving out any visible light.
Am I overthinking this? What do you all think, and what ideas do you have?

I'd love to have an authentic buy'ce ner'vod. I love the idea, I want a back-view cam, a heads-up display, etc. I'm working on ways to get them incorporated, after looking at some real hud's in an Apache helmet yesterday. Too bad I wasn't allowed to take pics! LOL

Well I don't think a HUD would be the best idea. A HUD works well when you have a lot of visible space so you can use the edges etc as a display. With these mando helmets there's only the small T-visor, so I think you should leave the clear parts alone (since you kind of need them to see) and put normal displays behind the cheeks or something.

I was just thinking a hud with targeting would be cool. look good at night, seeing it through the visor. I really think Master Chief's Spartan helmet has the best idea for visual. But with the T-visor I was thinking of putting things above (like where a rear view mirror would go) and maybe in the cheeks.

Well, a true reticle in front of your vision would be.... really hard to implement. Around the T-visor, however, is fair game with cheap electronics.

oooh, like an attachment to the rang finder outside you think? not bad, I'm just going to go with my head's up hologram sight I already own, and put that on my two CS-6's that I'm modding... the sights cost more than the guns! LOL

Some people have talked about that, but it seems like it would be too small. Also in the rangefinder I was intending to have outwards-facing IR LEDs so when you use low-lux cameras in the dark, flip down your rangefinder and it would illuminate the room with IR light which your cameras would pick up, but not the human eye.

While neat, that stuff wouldn't adapt over into a helmet any better than a basic digicam LCD, since you don't have such a space/weight issue as sunglasses-mounted LCDs. Though I might not be thinking of something.
