i am building Gauntlets for my Fett uniform. i was planning on using sintra to do so. i understand that it has to be heated. can someone please help me with trying to figure out what i should use to shape it. should i use my hands to mold several parts and bond them together or should i attempt to make gauntlets out of one big piece of sintra? if anyone has any templates they could send me pics of that would be very helpful.

I know what you can heat up the sintra with(if you didn't know already), you use a pot of boiling water; i've heard that one can use a hairblow dryer as well. But basically take your piece of sintra and did it in the boiling water for only a few seconds (roughly 10), then take it out and quickly mold it to where you want it to go, after that, hold that shape and run it under cold water to freez the molecules in the sintra. Now, for the gauntlets i suggest monlding most of the pieces. But i've talked to a few guys who have actually used more that just sintra for this part. They have actually used small pieces of wood heare and there for a much more solid feel and look. If you mold each piece of sintra to fit the gauntlet, it will look alot more "put together" in my oppinion. To get the foundation for your gaunlets down, you must first measure the distance around your wrist and your forearm. After that, measure the length from your wrist to your forearm. This next part is the most important. Once your done with the measuring part, divide the distance around your wrist and forearm in half, this creates the two half of your gauntlet. But it is important that after this, you add a little bit extra room to each piece to play around with, so that you can add the hinges, velcro, etc. Once you do this you can have at it. I hope i help you a little with that question.
