Quite some time ago I busied myself with a search for reasonably priced gauntlets. During my search, looking at all these pictures and such, I came to realize that all the gauntlets out there are huge.
Now, this poses a problem because I have rather small arms.. especially wrists. So, naturally, I was excited when I found on ebay some molds for Mandalorian gauntlets that were supposedly smaller than usual. The man boasted that the gauntlets produced from these molds were small enough to fit his wife's arms or a child's arms, but would not be fit to be worn by a man.
Perfect! Right?
Wrong!
I recieved them in the mail and upon taking them out of the box, noticed that they still looked awful large. Oba and I wanted to make me some gauntlets to wear as part of my costume for his fan film... so he made his vacuum-forming table and I poured the plaster in the molds. And, as I feared, they ended up being HUGE. WAY to big for my arms, not only in width, but in length as well. If I put them on, I could barely move my lower arms, and couldn't move my wrists at all.
I don't think that these were any smaller than regular sized gauntlets. I'm thinking he must have lied. Either that or he has a rather portly wife and a giant child. Oy.
What ARE the dimensions of standard-sized Mandalorian gauntlets, does anyone know?
And also, just recently, I purchased a 95 Don Post Boba Fett helmet. I was overly-excited to recieve it, but a bit disappointed when it came.
I never realized how large the helmets are either. I put it on and felt like I could set up camp in it, it was so big.
That's going to pose another significant problem when I go to construct my armor. I don't think there's any place or any way I can actually get a smaller helmet unless I find some way to create my own. But with my currently limited resources, I don't believe that'll be possible.
Are the cheap Rubies' Jango Fett helmets any smaller than the Don Post helmets?
Does anyone know of any possible solutions?
I'm at a loss here, and rather disappointed. This is a very daunting situation.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
